Oscar nominated Live Action Shorts category is something of a red-headed stepchild. It doesn't appeal to child audience inherent to many animated shorts. The Documentaries audience has a dedicated following Live action shorts are mostly a place for tomorrow's feature talent. Award recognition leads to respectable notable recognition as a film maker.
