Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall will be hosting the Sweet Caroline Tour, A Neil Diamond Concert Celebration on New Year's Eve at 9 p.m. The concert proceeds benefit Parkinson Place and the Parkinson Research Foundation. The full New Year's Eve event includes a VIP cocktail reception, a five-star dining experience, Neil Diamond tribute concert, and after-party featuring Chameleon so get your tickets now. Marie Selby Botanical Garden's event is by far the fanciest and the most sophisticated New Year's Eve party taking place in Sarasota this year! A black-tie affair featuring a private tour through tropical holiday lights displays, passed hors-d'oeuvres, a seated four-course dinner, live entertainment with special entertainment by the Sarasota Ballet and dancing at Michael's on the bay. There will be a champagne toast and a view of the fireworks over the bay.
Downtown Sarasota will host the annual Pineapple Drop, a traditional way to start the new year in Sarasota. You may have experienced the Apple Drop in NYC, but until you experience the Pineapple Drop in Sarasota, well, you have not lived! This NYE Street party is not hard to find, head Downtown and listen for the noise. Part carnival, part family festival, this street fest starts at 1:30 p.m. with live music beginning at 8 p.m. You will stumble upon beer stations as you walk the streets, and receive special deals at local restaurants and, of course, the Pineapple Drop that welcomes in the New Year takes place at midnight at Main Street and Lemon Ave. This event is free!
