The World Cup will begin on June 14 in Russia, and soccer fans in Sarasota will be paying close attention to some of their favorite countries. There are several places around town to take in the matches in a festive environment.

The city has no shortage of pubs that are used to opening their businesses early to have supporters from all over the world pour in and cheer on their teams. Here is our list of the top places to watch the World Cup in Sarasota:

Shamrock Pub

Shamrock Pub is the home bar for Sarasota's American Outlaws chapter, and even though Team USA did not make the World Cup field, they will still have great crowds on hand for all the action. The downtown neighborhood pub has 20 beer taps and 50 other types of bottled and canned beers.

Local establishments like Five-O Donut Co., Marathon Deli, and Ringling Pizza and Grill deliver food to Shamrock Pub. Join in on the fun and make sure to participate in the bar's World Cup bracket for the chance at a $250 prize!

Champions Pub

Champions Pub is a place where true soccer die-hards descend throughout the year. They serve up a traditional English breakfast for weekend matches with Irish back bacon and black pudding.

Champions Pub only serves beer and wine, but they have several draft beers available. This would be the perfect place to check out when England plays their first Group Stage match in the World Cup against Tunisia on June 18 at 1 p.m.

Lynches Pub & Grub

St. Armands Circle is home to Lynches Pub & Grub, an authentic Irish pub with several pieces of decor, including the stone floor, coming directly from Ireland. As would be expected, the menu has classics on it like Irish stew and corned beef and cabbage.

Lynches also serves breakfast at any time of the day. The best thing about this pub is that they pride themselves on always pouring the perfect pint of Guinness, which pairs perfectly with a World Cup match.

Duffy's Sports Grill

Duffy's Sports Grill was originally founded in Southwest Florida, and it has quickly spread across the state as a favorite for sports watching. Duffy's Sarasota has over 80 TVs to catch all the World Cup action!

The menu has a wide variety of starters, specialties from the grill, burgers, wings, and more. While Duffy's has no special set opening times for the Group Stage matches, they regularly open daily at 11 a.m. which should accommodate for most contests.
