Palm Avenue has long been a popular destination in Sarasota as the district is just a quick walk from the Sarasota bayfront, offering excellent shopping and dining opportunities.

It's also a hub of Sarasota's arts community and several galleries line the streets here. On the first Friday of every month, there is a gallery walk from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. where all the storefronts open their doors and give you a look at their latest work. It's also the home for perennial residents like Dabbert Gallery, CasAntica Sarasota and the Florida Studio Theatre, as well as newcomers like Peterbrooke Chocolatiers, the Meg Krakowiak Art Gallery and Studio and the Art Ovation Hotel

On First Fridays, there is also live music, and many of the shops serve complimentary wine and appetizers. It's a great time of the month to patronize all the specialty stores that have taken route in the district.

The retailers on Palm Avenue  have something for everyone, and they particularly focus on jewelry, unique fashion, and home decor. Transform your home with the bedding, table accessories, and assorted furniture pieces they carry at Melange Home

If you are looking for that special jewelry gift for someone or just trying to treat yourself, the high-end designer and custom jewelry at June Simmons Jewelry should do the trick. Men who are wanting to look their best can head to Martin Freeman to get outfitted.

Once you've maxed out your ability to shop, check out one of  Palm Avenue's great restaurants. Try Caragiulos Italian-American Restaurant, which has been open for 29 years and serves the same classic Italian comfort food they always have. Louies Modern is another option and one of Sarasota's most popular eateries, and their contemporary menu of table side dishes combined with a fun ambiance create a special dining experience. If you're looking for a neat place to drop in for lunch, Clasico Cafe Bar serves elevated pub fare.

While residents love taking advantage of these Palm Avenue shops and restaurants, the area is also a great spot for tourists to explore. Those wanting to get away to Sarasota on their next excursion should look into staying at the Art Ovation Hotel. The stylish boutique hotel is at the tail end of Palm Avenue's activity.
