Arts Advocates Luncheon: Banned Books – What People Are Reading
April 18, 11 am-1 pm (registration deadline EOD April 12)
Sarasota Yacht Club, 1100 John Ringling Blvd, Sarasota, FL 34236
$45 for members, $50 for non-members (includes lunch) – register at ArtsAdvocates.org.
Featuring Georgia Court, owner of Bookstore1Sarasota, and Bryn Durgin, assistant manager & director of programming
Bookstore1Sarasota hosts several book clubs including one with an intriguing focus – banned books. The monthly gathering is “dedicated to reading and protecting the most important and threatened books of our generation.” Organizer Bryn Durgin has gathered a selection of these titles and reinforces that these books are always available for purchase and can become quite popular.
