ARTIST TALK: JEAN SHIN

If you’ve ever wondered how artists take items and objects you see every day and turn them into something profound and extraordinary, you’ll want to come out to hear Jean Shin speak. At The Works at the Sarasota Museum of Art / SMOA, on Thursday, January 31 from 6-7 p.m., this artist will share her creative secrets with Sarasota locals. You’ll be surprised at her process of creating incredible pieces of art using mundane items.

Paleface Live in Sarasota Florida at The Reserve

Blending folk, pop, and indie music together, this talented due brings music that’s inspired musicians from all over the world. Head out to The Reserve SRQ on January 31 at 7:30 p.m. to enjoy a style of music you’ll be drawn to this weekend. Bring your family and friends, too, because this two-hour performance is great for all ages.

S.A.F.E. Day Festival

On Saturday, February 2 anytime between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., visit the Sarasota Fairgrounds to participate in the S.A.F.E. Day Festival. This free weekend event is great for the entire family! The Sarasota Fire Department, Police Department, and Health Department are joining together to keep local families safe using self-defense classes, educational talks, and hands-on demonstrations.

3rd Annual Phoenix Radio Blues Bash

If you love music, this is the perfect event for you. Sarasota Sky gathers four talented headlines together all in one place to perform for you in a night of amazing blues music. The event takes place on Saturday, February 2  from 7 p.m. to midnight. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear these bands perform this weekend!

Sharp Nails Comedy Show

Who doesn’t love to laugh? For just $10 in advance or $15 at the door, you’ll have the chance to watch six comedians tell you about all the nuances of life as a woman this weekend. On Saturday, February 2, you can go to Starlite Lounge for a night of fun, laughter, and connecting as women. The show starts at 8 p.m. and ends at 9:30 p.m. There will be adult language and topics, so leave the kids at home with a babysitter!

Sunday Siesta Key Rum Tours

Is there a better way to spend a weekend relaxing than with a drink in your hand? Siesta Key Rum is offering an hour-long tour on Sunday, February 3 beginning at 1 p.m. Dogs and children are welcome on the tour, but only adults over 21 years old will be able to sample. This tour is free, but they ask that you arrive at least 10 minutes early.
