Happy Labor Day Weekend! We know that you work hard all year long so take a day and relax, go out with friends or spend quality time with a loved one. Do what you want to do! If you’re looking for something fun to do that makes this weekend special and there’s plenty to do in Sarasota that will give you something to brag about in the office on Monday!
On Saturday check out the Woodstock Revival Redo at the Farmer’s Market in Downtown Sarasota from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. for great music and lots of laughs. Performing at the festival is Paisley Craze, a rock group from Sarasota that plays covers of the greatest hits from the 60s. Check out the vintages VWs and Tiny House Expo with Brian Kelly of Tiny Lifestyle Homes. Bring the whole family because there will be kids activities and free raffles, alongside the second annual Best Dressed Hippie Contest. People who would like to participate are asked to be at the big stage on First Street in their biggest bell bottoms and more vibrant tie-dye t-shirts at 11 a.m. Prizes will be given to the best hippie couple, best-dressed hippie and best-dressed hippie dog!
On Saturday and Sunday, the 10th annual Downtown Venice Craft Festival located on Miami Avenue in downtown Venice brings craftsmen from all over Florida to the 941area! If you’re interested in art, furniture, homemade goods, and goodies then check it out either day from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
Pioneer Days, the two-week celebration in Englewood comes to an end this weekend. On Monday the 62nd annual Pioneer Days Festival from 8 a.m.- 3 p.m. takes place with the parade starting at 9 a.m. The route starts at St. Raphael’s Church and ends at McCall Road. Earlier in the weekend, there will be cardboard races, a performance of the shipwreck dance, an open car show, a diaper derby and much more! Bring the whole family along for some Labor Day fun, especially on Sunday because there is a Kids Zone with lively games, a scavenger hunt, and an art tent.
The Beach Club on Siesta Key beach is celebrating their 71st year of business this weekend with two days filled with fun! On Saturday they’re throwing a party with live music by the band NoFilter from 8pm-11pm with $1 drafts and raffles to win some great prizes like a kayak and a big screen TV. Stop by on Sunday for their 2018 Beer Olympics where you and your friends compete in beer games like flip cup or beer pong and enjoy the music of NoFilter from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Later that night, crawl your way around Siesta Village during the Labor Day Eve Pub Crawl!
If you already have plans for Saturday (like napping all day and catching up on sleep), but still plan on doing something fun on Sunday you won’t have missed a thing! The Reggae Pon Di Lake Music Festival takes over Nathan Benderson Park at 2 p.m. to celebrate the Jamaican rooted music. Frontman of band Black Uhuru and Grammy-winning Jamaican artist Mykal Rose headlines this first annual event.
