The wildest day in May is just around the corner, and you need Cinco de Mayo plans. Get out and enjoy margaritas, tequila, tamales, and maybe even run a 5K. There’s plenty of Cinco de Mayo events in Sarasota to make the day unforgettable.
This Cinco de Mayo party at Beach Club Siesta Key is all about the drinks. The festivities start at 1 p.m. with a beer pong tournament followed by their self-proclaimed "Mind-Blowing" margarita bar from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. There's also a bar tab giveaway at 7:30 p.m. and 1 a.m. Stick around until at least midnight because five cases of Corona will be given away! Don’t forget to take pictures, too, because they have a photo op contest. Since 2012, Catrinas Tacos and Tequila has always thrown the best Cinco de Mayo parties, and their new St. Armands Circle location has been crowned the Cinco headquarters. Their epic parties include special menus, lots of tequila, and live music. The first hundred people there will get a free shot, so be sure to get there around 11 a.m.!

This year, Libby's Cafe + Bar hosts Salsa de Mayo at Morton's Gourmet Market where you can taste and vote for the best salsa. They’re also having a Tecate, Tequila, & Tamales special where you can choose Tecate or a shot of Tequila with two tamales, rice, and beans. Get there early, though, because their incredible tamales will be sold until they run out. The event starts at 11 a.m., and you can make your reservation by calling (941)487-7300.

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Port Charlotte with the third annual Publix Family Fun Day 10k/5k. The event with be hosted at the Christian Brothers Automotive facility in the Shoppes at Price Crossing. After running in the race, head to the party for prizes and Cinco de Mayo festivities including ice cold beer and food. They’ll have games for kids, so being the whole family out and make a day of it!
