As Christmas in Sarasota approaches, it’s easy to get caught up in the rush of buying presents, getting the best deal, and all the other responsibilities we have. But you still need to take time for yourself and your loved one, so here are some romantic holiday date ideas in Sarasota that will give you quality time together and keep you both in the Christmas spirit.
There are fewer things over the holidays more romantic than walking in a winter wonderland, and The Mall at University Town Center in Sarasota hosts a Holiday Village event called Holidays on the Green, bringing live music and classic holiday movies every Friday and Saturday now through January 6.
If you and your date can't make it on the weekend, you can still enjoy the winter fun any day of the week. In fact, you’ll find things here that's difficult to find anywhere else in Florida: ice and snow. The Tampa Bay Lightning provides the ice for a romantic ice skating experience, and you can go tubing on real snow!
Music is always romantic, but you can skip the serenade this year and take your date out to the Sarasota Orchestra's ‘Tis the Season concert. Nights December 5-8 and December 9 in the afternoon, you can enjoy an evening of Christmas classics made new by both new conductors and audience favorites. You don't have to be a music aficionado to enjoy this year’s program as it features favorites such as “Sleigh Ride,” “A Mad Russian’s Christmas,” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”
If you’re looking for a romantic evening that’s planned for you, head to Holiday Romance night at Historic Spanish Point on Little Sarasota Bay. On December 7 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., you and your date can have a pre-planned date at this gorgeous location.
For $30, the two of you can eat light snacks and holiday treats while attending a movie showing by the water. For an extra $15, you can purchase the Poinsettia tickets, which also include a picnic basket filled with enough goodies for you and your sweetheart. This is also a kid-free night and features a cash bar.
Ballet is arguably one of the most romantic dance forms, especially in The Moscow Ballet's production of The Great Russian Nutcracker. This twist on the Christmas classic includes all your favorite timeless characters plus two Russian nesting dolls, a growing Christmas tree, and dancing puppets. You can see this fun holiday production with your date at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall on December 21 at 3 p.m. or 7 p.m.
Let your loved one know they're still on your list in the midst of all the holiday hoopla by going on one of these romantic holiday dates in Sarasota.
