Robert "Bob" Chase was a remarkable individual whose life and work intersected with several notable personalities, including Marie Selby, Cecil B. DeMille, Charlton Heston, and Emmett Kelly. Bob, a World War II Air Force veteran, moved to Sarasota in 1947 to attend the Ringling School of Art under the G.I. Bill. He opened his own art school in 1949 and briefly taught at Ringling from 1950 to 1951. Bob Chase passed away in 2014 at the age of 95. For this art talk, we will interview Rick Sanders, Bob’s son-in-law, who has taken on the responsibility of preserving Bob’s stories, photographs, and artworks. Following the death of Rick’s wife, Diana, in 2021, Rick is working to keep the family memories alive. Rick will share numerous stories and adventures from his father-in-law's life, highlighting Bob's distinctive painting style that continues to intrigue and captivate audiences. He will also discuss Bob's eclectic residential compound, which served as his studio. Register at ArtsAdvocates.org.
