The Newtown Farmers Market in Sarasota, in collaboration with our community partners, is excited to host the 3rd annual Big Mama's Collard Greens Fest on Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 12p-6p.
Event Details
Location: Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, a spacious outdoor facility known for bringing families together from across the city and the state.
General Admission: FREE
Vendors, Competing Cooks, Sponsors: Details for those interested in being a vendor, competing in the cook-off or being a sponsor can be found at http://newtownnation.com/events/bmcgf/
This is a family-friendly, no-alcohol event. There will be food vendors to purchase food from. Outside food or drinks are not allowed, but we do encourage families to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets.
The fest is a celebration of community and culture, with influence from Cajun, Creole, Southern and Caribbean styles. The legendary "big mama" represents the best-tasting family collard greens recipes, some dating back more than 100 years. In addition, chefs from major restaurants in Sarasota and Manatee Counties and the Tampa Bay area will showcase their collard greens and specialty foods. Entertainment will highlight local talent!
Eat Local Week! This event is one 20+ events highlighted during the 2018 Eat Local Week. Check out www.TransitionSRQ.org for a full list!
