About Face provides in-school students with key academic and life skills instruction that propels them to grade-level gains, and healthy, responsible choices.
Event Details
**ELIGIBILITY: 1) Qualify for Free or Reduced School Lunch 2) Between 13 & 17 years old**
The program equips students with essential strategies for enhancing their literacy and numeracy scores, completing their high school diploma, and acquiring lasting life skills. Participants develop skills in critical thinking, computer literacy, and personal responsibility.
PROGRAM GOALS AND FOCUS:Academic Essentials: The academic essentials component is the primary focus of the program and will represent 75% of the instruction. Reading, mathematics, and language skills will be assessed using the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE). Staff will also assist with study habits and tutoring to address specific deficiencies as reported by self-report, parents, and educators.
Mentoring: Volunteer mentors will be invited to participate in the program. The mentoring component will be interwoven and represent a parallel effort to the Academic and Life Skills Components of the program.
