All the buildings in the Village will be decorated inside and out to reflect Christmas styles and celebrations of long ago. Visitors can see five large Christmas trees, each trimmed to a specific theme. The Victorian Tree dazzles with decorations of toys and nostalgic images common to the later part of the 19th Century. The Old Schoolhouse Tree is covered with paper chains and toys and topped by a nutcracker. The Bird Tree, has a multitude of varied birds nesting in its branches and is crowned by a wise, snowy white owl. New this year is the Cracker Christmas Tree with ornaments reflecting the area’s cattle ranching heritage.
Guaranteed to get you in the mood for the season are not just the decorations, but also choral and instrumental performances by local organizations including: Martha B. King School King Crusader Band Ensembles, Manatee School of the Arts Chorus, Southeast High School Chamber Orchestra, Saint Stephens Episcopal School Chorus, and Peace Lutheran School Junior Chimes.
Throughout the five hour event, visitors can watch demonstrations by heritage artisans and do some last minute holiday shopping at the booths of visiting artists. Favorite activities of the crowds each year are the “make and take” free craft stations set up around the Village where adults and children can stop to create unique cards and ornaments to take home.
