Quiet and serene, Longboat Key is the perfect Florida island getaway. A private barrier island off the west coast of central Florida, Longboat Key has some of the best beaches in the state.

The beaches are mostly private, but there are beach access points with limited parking on Longview Drive, Westfield Street, Mayfield Street and Neptune Avenue. If you are staying at one of the many resorts, you will find the beaches uncrowded and perfect for sea shell hunting. Longbooat Key is known for sand dollars—head to the beach after an early morning high tide and you may get lucky!

Accomodations in Longboat Key range from high rise condominiums and resorts to efficiency apartments and single family homes. Most have private ocean beach access or access to Sarasota Bay.

There are several miles of well maintained bike paths in Longboat Key. The paved paths run the length of Gulf of Mexico Drive. Bike rentals are available along the route and many companies will deliver to your hotel or rental villa.
